We request that you do not assume that a result is normal if we do not contact you. The surgery will contact you if there is a significant problem with your results, but please contact us for all results as the GP may have made some suggestions or advice based on your results even if there is not a significant problem.
We do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.
Getting your test results
If your test results show that you need more tests or treatment, we will contact you.
Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:
- in your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- in your SystmOnline account
- phone us on Cuffley Village Surgery 01707 875201 or Valley View Health Centre 01707 875223 after 2pm and we will tell you what the results are
If tests have not been requested by the practice, please consult the clinic where the test was requested/the doctor who requested the tests, for results.

If you want to talk to someone about your results, fill out a test results request form and someone will be in touch.
Waiting times
Listed below are guidelines stating the times it takes for the results to reach the surgery. In order to save your time and ours please do not phone before these times have elapsed.
- Urine Tests up to 5 working days
- Blood Tests up to 5 working days
- Smear Tests up to 4 weeks (you will be notified by letter)
- X-rays up to 10 working days (up to 3 weeks for Valley View)
- Swabs up to 5 working days
- Stool Samples up to 5 working days (up to 1 week for Valley View)
Test results conducted outside of the practice
If tests have not been requested by the practice, please consult the clinic where the test was requested/the doctor who requested the tests, for results.
For more information about your test results please contact the hospital, Urgent Care Centre or Minor Injuries Unit where the test was conducted.
